We “measure” your gum health. You will probably hear measurements such as one, two, and three during the first part of your dental cleaning. What our hygienist is measuring is the depth of the pocketing in your gums. Healthy gums cling snugly to your teeth and create a tight seal. When deeper pocketing occurs, it allows for the collection of oral bacteria, causing a gum infection known as periodontal disease.

When we catch periodontal disease early, we may even be able to reverse it!

Our gentle and thorough hygiene department will remove the tartar and bacteria from your teeth and just below your gumline. We pride ourselves in providing comfortable dental cleanings that help keep you healthy and looking your best. Once we remove the tartar from your teeth, we will use a special polisher to remove any residual tartar and surface stains from your teeth so that you leave with that smooth, fresh feeling only a professional dental cleaning can provide.

At least once a year, we will take x-rays of your teeth to look for signs of decay. Dental x-rays are extremely safe and help us see what the naked eye alone cannot detect. By having regular dental x-rays, which will be evaluated by our dentist, you are taking one of the very best steps toward protecting your smile.
