Until recently, the only way to get a crown was to go through the drawn-out process of multiple appointments, messy impressions, and a two-week wait for the finished restoration.

Today, with impressive advances in dental technology, you can receive a fully functioning esthetic crown in just one visit to Dr. Fairfax & Associates!

The CEREC Difference

You are probably familiar with the process for a lab-fabricated dental crown. Your dentist prepares your natural tooth, then impressions are taken and sent to a dental lab where your crown is produced. You will be given a temporary crown to wear in the interim to protect your tooth. In about two weeks, your restoration is ready and you return to our office to have it cemented in place.

The biggest benefit of choosing CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) is that you will leave our office the same day with a finished crown. This minimizes a lot of the hassle associated with lab crowns:

  • NO messy impressions – After we prepare your tooth to receive the crown, we take digital images and impressions that are shared with CAD/CAM software. This allows your dentist to create a virtual model of your new crown, all without the need for a mouth full of messy pink paste!
  • NO long wait for a new crown – The specifications used to create your crown is sent to an in-office milling machine where your restoration is fabricated from a block of ceramic material. The entire process from start to finish only takes about two hours.
  • NO multiple injections – We numb your mouth when we prepare your tooth to receive the crown. That’s it! Since there’s no need for return visits, you won’t require a second injection.
  • NO temporary crown – Since you leave the office the same day with your new crown, a temporary crown is not needed.
